This engine was built by the Rhode Island Loco Co in 1885. It was ordered by the Worc-Nash & Roch RR. But when delivered the Boston & Maine she did not carry the WNR No 22 but the B&M 244 named Samson. She had 18x24 cyls diam of driver 51" Engine weight 60 Tons wt on driv 51.4 Tons Steam pres 150 lbs. Tender Wt 31 Tons carried 3000 gals water 6 Tons coal. Was rebuilt by B&M in 1886 with short front end and diamond stack In 1911 was renumbered 1300 and was scrapped before 1918. The Goliath No 245 was a sister engine of the Samson she became 1301 same dimensions
